The Vertical Navigation Layout
The most noticeable architectural change is the collapsible hamburger sidebar on the left side of the window. This replaces the traditional top-row tabs and organizes system monitoring tools into distinct pages:
- Processes: Real-time resource usage of active software and system components.
- Performance: Hardware utilization graphs and detailed technical specs.
- App History: Cumulative resource usage over time for user applications.
- Startup Apps: Management of applications configured to launch on system boot.
- Users: Per-user breakdown of system resource consumption.
- Details: The advanced, granular view of every individual executable and PID.
- Services: Status and management of background Windows services.
At the top of the interface, a contextual Command Bar dynamically adapts to the selected page, providing quick access to essential actions such as “Run new task,” “End task,” and “Efficiency mode.”
How Processes Are Organized
The Processes page groups active software into three primary categories to help distinguish between user-initiated software and essential system operations:
- Apps: Applications currently open and running in the user session (e.g., browsers, office suites, media players).
- Background Processes: Non-interactive services, updater utilities, and third-party software running behind the scenes.
- Windows Processes: Core operating system services required for Windows to function properly.
Processes are structured hierarchically. Multi-process applications (such as modern web browsers) appear as single parent entries that can be expanded to reveal sub-processes, individual tabs, and extensions.
Data is presented across a colored heat map with columns for CPU, Memory, Disk, Network, GPU, and Power Usage. A deeper color indicates higher resource consumption, allowing users to spot bottlenecks instantly. Users can also apply Efficiency Mode (represented by a green leaf icon) to specific background processes to lower their priority and conserve system resources.
How Performance Metrics Are Organized
The Performance page translates complex hardware data into real-time visual metrics, structured into two main viewing areas:
- The Left-Hand Metric Selector: Displays compact, real-time mini-graphs for all primary hardware components: CPU, Memory, Disk drives (HDD/SSD), Network adapters (Ethernet/Wi-Fi), and dedicated or integrated GPUs.
- The Main Telemetry Dashboard: Displays a detailed, expanded view of the hardware component selected from the left list.
Each hardware category provides specific diagnostic data:
- CPU: Overall utilization percentage, core clock speeds, total processes/threads/handles, uptime, and hardware architecture details (sockets, physical cores, logical processors, virtualization status, and cache levels).
- Memory: Used versus available RAM, in-use committed values, cached memory, paged/non-paged pool sizes, and hardware specifications (speed, form factor, and slots used).
- Disk: Active time percentage, average response time, read/write speeds, capacity, and drive type.
- Network: Real-time send and receive throughput, adapter name, connection type, and IPv4/IPv6 addresses.
- GPU: 3D engine load, video encode/decode usage, dedicated vs. shared GPU memory allocation, driver version, and temperature.
Users can double-click anywhere on the graphs to switch to a minimalist Summary View, transforming the Task Manager into a compact desktop widget for continuous monitoring.
