Windows Studio Effects typically offers two types of Background Blur:
- Standard Blur: Applies a subtle, even blur across the entire background, disguising room clutter while keeping the focus on the speaker.
- Portrait Blur: Produces a more refined depth-of-field (bokeh) effect similar to a professional DSLR camera, creating a smoother transition between the subject and the background.

Unlike traditional software filters that run on the CPU or GPU and consume significant battery life, Windows Studio Effects relies on a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This hardware-accelerated approach provides several advantages:
- System-Level Integration: Once enabled, these effects apply across any camera application, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and the native Windows Camera app.
