Windows Hello Facial Recognition allows you to sign in to your Windows 11 PC quickly and securely using your face. Step-by-Step Setup Guide

1. Open Sign-in Options

  1. Press Windows Key + I to open the Settings app.
  2. In the left sidebar, click on Accounts.
  3. In the right pane, select Sign-in options.

2. Configure Windows Hello Face

  1. Under the Ways to sign in section, click on Facial recognition (Windows Hello) to expand the menu.
  2. Click the Set up button. (If the button says “Currently unavailable,” ensure your IR camera drivers are installed and up to date).
  3. A Windows Hello setup window will appear. Click Get started.
  4. Enter your current account PIN or password when prompted to verify your identity.

3. Scan Your Face

  1. Look directly at your IR camera.
  2. Keep your head still and centered within the on-screen frame while the camera scans your facial features.
  3. Once the scan bar fills completely, the setup is complete.

4. Improve Recognition (Optional)

If you wear glasses, change your appearance regularly, or use your PC in varied lighting conditions, click Improve recognition. This allows the camera to perform additional scans under different conditions to make unlocking more reliable.


Testing and Using Facial Recognition

Lock your PC by pressing Windows Key + L. Look directly at the camera on the lock screen; the system will detect your face, display a greeting, and automatically unlock your desktop without requiring any manual input.
