Manage Family Safety and Screen Time on Windows 11
Managing screen time and content restrictions on Windows 11 is essential for maintaining healthy digital habits and ensuring online safety for children. Microsoft Family Safety provides a centralized dashboard where parents can connect family accounts, establish daily computer usage schedules, block inappropriate websites and apps, and review weekly activity reports. This guide outlines the exact steps to configure and manage these parental controls on Windows 11 devices.

To apply parental controls, your child must sign in to Windows 11 using their own Microsoft account connected to your family group.
- Open Settings on your Windows 11 PC (press
Win + I). - Navigate to Accounts > Family.
- Click Add someone under the “Your family” section.
- Select Create one for a child and follow the on-screen prompts to register or link your child’s Microsoft account.
- Have your child log into the Windows 11 PC with their credentials to finalize device setup.
2. Configure Screen Time Limits
Once the child account is linked, you can set daily allowances and specific usage windows.
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Family and click Manage family settings online, or visit the Microsoft Family Safety website directly.

You can restrict specific high-use applications, such as games or streaming services, without blocking the entire computer.
- Within the child’s profile on the Family Safety dashboard, navigate to Apps and games.
