Improve Windows Hello Face Recognition in Windows 11

Windows Hello Facial Recognition allows you to sign in to your Windows 11 device securely and instantly using your face. If you wear glasses, change your appearance, or frequently experience failed recognition attempts, you can train the system to recognize you under different conditions. This guide walks you through using the “Improve recognition” feature in Windows 11 to calibrate your camera for seamless sign-ins both with and without glasses.

How to Train Windows Hello with or Without Glasses

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows Key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Sign-in Options: In the left sidebar, click on Accounts, then select Sign-in options from the right pane.
  3. Access Facial Recognition Settings: Click on the Facial recognition (Windows Hello) tile to expand its options.
  4. Start Recognition Improvement: Click the Improve recognition button.
  5. Authenticate: In the pop-up window, click Get started and enter your account PIN when prompted.
  6. Scan Your Face:
    • If you originally set up Windows Hello while wearing glasses, remove them now and look directly into the camera until the progress bar completes.
    • If you originally set up Windows Hello without glasses, put them on and look directly into the camera.
  7. Finish the Setup: Click Close once the scan is complete.
