Disable Windows 11 Lock Screen Ads and Tips

Windows 11 displays dynamic tips, fun facts, and promotional content on your lock screen by default. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to turn off these unwanted lock screen advertisements and recommendations using the built-in Windows Settings menu, allowing you to maintain a clean, distraction-free lock screen.

Step 1: Open Lock Screen Settings

  1. Press Windows Key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
  2. From the left sidebar, click on Personalization.
  3. In the main pane, select Lock screen.

Step 2: Change the Lock Screen Background

Windows Spotlight automatically displays tips and promotions, and this feature cannot be turned off while Spotlight is active. You must switch your background source to disable them:

  1. Locate the Personalize your lock screen option.
  2. Click the dropdown menu next to it and select either Picture or Slideshow.

Step 3: Turn Off Tips and Fun Facts

  1. Once Picture or Slideshow is selected, a new option will appear directly beneath the dropdown menu.
  2. Uncheck the box labeled Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen.

Step 4: Remove Lock Screen Widgets (Optional)

If you also want to remove weather, finance, or news widgets from the lock screen:

  1. Scroll down to the Lock screen status section.
  2. Click the dropdown menu and select None.

Your changes are saved automatically. Press Windows Key + L to lock your PC and verify that the lock screen no longer displays advertisements or tips.
