Create Windows 11 USB with Media Creation Tool
This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on creating a bootable Windows 11 USB flash drive or ISO file using Microsoft’s official Media Creation Tool. By following these steps, you will prepare the necessary installation media to perform a clean install or upgrade of Windows 11 on any compatible computer.
Prerequisites
Before getting started, ensure you have: * A stable internet connection. * A Windows PC. * A blank USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of storage capacity (all existing data on the drive will be permanently erased).
Step 1: Download the Media Creation Tool
- Go to the official Microsoft Windows 11 download page.
- Scroll down to the Create Windows 11 Installation Media section.
- Click the Download Now button to download the setup
file (
mediacreationtool.exe).
Step 2: Run the Tool and Accept Terms
- Locate the downloaded file on your computer and run it as an administrator.
- When the User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears, click Yes.
- On the Applicable notices and license terms screen, read the terms and click Accept.
Step 3: Select Language and Edition
- Select your preferred Language and Edition from the dropdown menus.
- Alternatively, check the box labeled Use the recommended options for this PC to automatically match your current computer’s settings.
- Click Next to proceed.
Step 4: Choose the Media Type
- Select USB flash drive to create a bootable installer directly. (Note: Choose “ISO file” only if you plan to burn the installer to a DVD later).
- Connect your USB flash drive to the computer.

- Select your USB drive from the list of available removable drives.
