Back Up BitLocker Key to Microsoft Account in Windows 11
This guide explains how to back up your BitLocker recovery key directly to your Microsoft cloud account in Windows 11. Storing this 48-digit key in the cloud ensures you maintain access to your encrypted drive if your device encounters hardware changes, firmware updates, or startup errors.
Prerequisites
- A Windows 11 edition that supports BitLocker (Pro, Enterprise, or Education).
- An active Microsoft account signed in to the device with administrative privileges.
- BitLocker encryption already enabled on the target drive.
Steps to Back Up the Recovery Key
- Open BitLocker Management:
