Temporarily Show Your Real IP in Safari With Private Relay
This article provides a quick and easy guide on how to temporarily disable iCloud Private Relay for a specific website in the Safari web browser. While iCloud Private Relay enhances your privacy by masking your IP address, some websites require your real IP to provide localized content, verify your identity, or function correctly. Below, you will find the exact steps to temporarily reveal your actual IP address to a single site on both iPhone, iPad, and Mac without turning off the feature entirely.
On iPhone and iPad (iOS and iPadOS)
To allow a specific website to see your real IP address on a mobile device, follow these steps:
- Open the Safari app and navigate to the website you want to grant access to.
- Look at the address bar and tap the Page Settings button (this looks like an aA icon or a rectangle with lines next to it, depending on your iOS version).
- In the menu that appears, tap Show IP Address.
- The page will automatically reload, and the website will now be able to see your actual IP address.
On Mac (macOS)
To temporarily bypass iCloud Private Relay for a website on your Mac, follow these steps:
- Open Safari and go to the specific website.
- Move your cursor to the top menu bar and click on View.
- From the drop-down menu, click Reload and Show IP Address.
- The webpage will refresh, temporarily revealing your real IP address to that specific site.
How Long Does This Setting Last?
Revealing your IP address using this method is strictly temporary and applies only to the specific website you are viewing. Your real IP address will remain visible to that site only until you close the tab, quit Safari, or manually turn the protection back on via the same menu. All other websites you visit in different tabs will continue to have your IP address hidden by iCloud Private Relay.
