Restoring Hidden Elements in Safari Distraction Control
This article provides a quick and easy guide on how to restore webpage elements that you have previously hidden using the Distraction Control feature in Apple's Safari web browser. Whether you are browsing on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you will learn the exact steps required to bring back all vanished content and reset the webpage to its original layout.
Distraction Control in Safari (available in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia or later) does not allow you to restore hidden elements one by one. Instead, the browser groups your changes together, allowing you to instantly restore all hidden elements on a webpage at the exact same time.
How to Restore Hidden Elements on iPhone and iPad
- Open the Safari app and go to the webpage where you previously hid the elements.
- Locate the address bar at the bottom or top of your screen.
- Tap the Page Menu button on the left side of the address bar. This icon looks like a small rectangle with two lines beneath it, and it will display a small crossed-out eye icon next to it to indicate that items are currently hidden on the page.
- In the menu that pops up, tap Show Hidden Items.
All previously hidden elements will immediately reappear on the webpage.
How to Restore Hidden Elements on Mac
- Open Safari and navigate to the webpage containing the hidden elements.
- Move your cursor to the Smart Search field (the address bar) at the top of the browser window.
- Click the Page Menu icon on the far left side of the address bar, which will feature a crossed-out eye symbol next to it.
- Click Show Hidden Items from the dropdown menu.
Once clicked, the webpage will instantly revert to its standard view, restoring every element you previously removed with Distraction Control.
