Where to Put Twitch or YouTube Stream Key in OBS
Setting up a live stream requires connecting your streaming platform to your broadcasting software. This guide provides a direct, step-by-step walkthrough on exactly where to locate and enter your Twitch or YouTube stream key within OBS Studio so you can start broadcasting immediately.
Step-by-Step Guide to Entering Your Stream Key
1. Open the OBS Settings Menu
Launch OBS Studio on your computer. In the bottom-right control dock, click the Settings button. Alternatively, you can click File in the top-left menu bar and select Settings from the dropdown menu.
2. Navigate to the Stream Tab
Inside the Settings window, locate the sidebar on the left side of the screen. Click on the Stream category (usually the second option from the top).
3. Select Your Streaming Service
Click on the dropdown menu next to Service and select your platform: * Select Twitch if you are streaming to Twitch. * Select YouTube - RTMPS if you are streaming to YouTube.
4. Enter Your Stream Key
Once your service is selected, you have two options to connect your account:
- Option A: Connect Account (Recommended): Click the Connect Account button to log directly into your Twitch or YouTube account through a secure browser window. This automatically links your stream key without needing to copy and paste it.
- Option B: Use Stream Key: Click the Use Stream Key button. Paste your copied stream key from your Twitch Creator Dashboard or YouTube Creator Studio directly into the Stream Key text field.
5. Apply and Save
After pasting your key or connecting your account, click the Apply button in the bottom-right corner of the window, and then click OK to save your changes and exit the settings menu. You are now ready to click Start Streaming on the main OBS interface.
