Toggle OBS Branding Overlays Using Nested Scenes

Managing multiple branding elements like logos, frame borders, and social media handles in OBS Studio can quickly become disorganized, especially when switching between different scenes. This guide provides a straightforward, step-by-step walkthrough on how to use nested scenes (scenes within scenes) to group your branding elements together. By the end of this article, you will be able to toggle your entire suite of branding overlays on or off across your entire broadcast with a single click or hotkey.

Step 1: Create Your Branding Scene

Instead of adding your branding sources directly to your live broadcast scenes, you will first create a dedicated container scene for them.

  1. Open OBS Studio.
  2. Locate the Scenes dock, click the + (plus) icon, and name the new scene Branding Overlay (or something similar).
  3. Select this new Branding Overlay scene.
  4. Move to the Sources dock and add all your branding elements here—such as your logo (Image source), social media handles (Text source), and webcam borders (Media Source).
  5. Arrange, resize, and position these elements exactly where you want them to appear on your broadcast.

Step 2: Nest the Branding Scene into Your Active Scenes

Now that your branding elements are organized in one place, you can import this scene into your main production scenes.

  1. In the Scenes dock, select one of your main active scenes (e.g., your “Gameplay” or “Just Chatting” scene).
  2. Go to the Sources dock of that active scene and click the + icon.
  3. Select Scene from the list of source options.
  4. Choose Add Existing, select your Branding Overlay scene from the list, and click OK.

Your entire group of branding elements will now appear on top of your active scene as a single source layer. Repeat this process for any other scenes where you want your branding to be visible.

Step 3: Toggle the Entire Group Instantly

With your nested scene structure configured, you can now control all of your branding elements simultaneously.
