Stream to Trovo Using OBS Studio Built-in Profiles

This guide provides a straightforward, step-by-step walkthrough on how to set up and start streaming to Trovo Live using the built-in streaming profiles in OBS Studio. By leveraging OBS’s native Trovo integration, you can quickly link your account or use a stream key to broadcast your gameplay or creative content without needing complex manual configurations.

Step 1: Access Your Trovo Creator Dashboard

Before configuring OBS Studio, you need to retrieve your stream key or prepare your account credentials. 1. Open your web browser and go to the Trovo website. 2. Log in to your account. 3. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Creator Studio. 4. In the left-hand menu, click on Stream-it to view your stream setup page. 5. Locate your Stream Key. Once you have your Trovo details ready, open OBS Studio on your computer. 1. Click on Settings in the bottom-right corner of the OBS control panel (or go to File > Settings in the top menu). 2. In the Settings window, click on the Stream tab in the left-hand sidebar.

Step 3: Select the Trovo Built-In Profile

OBS Studio includes a dedicated, pre-configured profile for Trovo that optimizes your connection settings. 1. Click the dropdown menu next to Service and select Trovo. 2. Leave the Server setting on Default (this automatically routes your stream to the closest Trovo server for the best latency).

Step 4: Connect Your Account or Enter Your Stream Key

You have two options to connect OBS Studio to your Trovo channel:

This option automatically links your chat and dashboard docks directly inside OBS Studio. 1. Click the Connect Account (recommended) button. 2. A browser window will pop up prompting you to log in to your Trovo account. 3. Authorize OBS Studio to access your account. Once completed, your account will be linked.

Option B: Use Stream Key

If you prefer not to log in through OBS, you can use the stream key you located in Step 1. 1. Click the Use Stream Key button. 2. Paste your Trovo stream key into the Stream Key field.

Step 5: Configure Output Settings for Trovo

To ensure a stable broadcast, adjust your output settings to match Trovo’s recommended specifications. 1. Navigate to the Output tab in the OBS Settings sidebar. 2. Set your Output Mode to Simple. 3. Set your Video Bitrate between 3000 Kbps and 6000 Kbps (depending on your upload speed and whether you are streaming at 720p or 1080p). 4. Set the Encoder to Hardware (NVENC) if you have an Nvidia graphics card, or x264 if you rely on your CPU. 5. Click Apply, then click OK to save your settings.

Step 6: Start Your Stream

With your profile configured, you are ready to go live. 1. Ensure your scenes, sources, and audio are set up correctly in the main OBS window. 2. Click the Start Streaming button in the bottom-right control panel. 3. Check your Trovo Creator Studio in your browser to confirm that your broadcast is live and running smoothly.
