Set Scene Transition Durations in OBS Transition Table

The Transition Table plugin for OBS Studio allows users to bypass global transitions and define specific animations when moving from one scene to another. This guide provides a straightforward tutorial on how to configure the plugin to change the default transition duration for specific scene pairings, ensuring your stream transitions occur at the exact speed you want.

Step 1: Open the Transition Table Interface

To begin configuring your custom scene transitions, you must first access the plugin interface within OBS Studio:

  1. Launch OBS Studio.
  2. Click on Tools in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Transition Table from the drop-down menu. A new configuration window will appear.

Step 2: Create a New Scene Pairing Rule

Within the Transition Table window, you will define the specific “From” and “To” scenes that will trigger your custom duration:

  1. Click the Add (+) button at the bottom of the window to create a new rule.
  2. In the From Scene column, select the scene you are transitioning out of from the drop-down menu. (Select [Any] if you want this to apply when transitioning from any scene to a specific target scene).
  3. In the To Scene column, select the scene you are transitioning into.

Step 3: Set the Transition Type and Custom Duration

Once the scene pairing is established, you can customize the transition style and override the default speed:

  1. In the Transition column, select your preferred transition style (e.g., Fade, Cut, Swipe, or a custom Stinger).
  2. Locate the Duration (ms) column for your newly created row.
  3. Double-click the number field in this column.
  4. Type in your desired transition duration in milliseconds (for example, enter 1000 for a 1-second transition, or 300 for a quick 0.3-second transition).
  5. Press Enter to save the value.

Step 4: Save and Test the Transition

To ensure your settings are applied correctly:

  1. Click Close or OK on the Transition Table window to save your changes.
  2. Go to your OBS Scene list and click back and forth between the two scenes you configured.
  3. Observe the transition speed to confirm that the specific pairing uses your custom duration rather than the global OBS transition duration.
