Map Stream Deck Dial to OBS Filter Properties

Controlling your stream’s audio and video dynamically is crucial for a professional broadcast. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough on how to map a physical dial on your Elgato Stream Deck + to directly adjust specific filter properties—such as Gain, Noise Gate, or Color Correction thresholds—inside OBS Studio using the official Elgato OBS Studio integration.

Step 1: Install the OBS Studio Plugin

Before configuring the dials, ensure you have the official integration installed. 1. Open the Stream Deck desktop application. 2. Click the Marketplace icon (the keyboard/store icon in the top right). 3. Search for OBS Studio by Elgato and install/update it to the latest version. 4. Open OBS Studio on your computer. The Stream Deck software should automatically establish a connection with OBS.

Step 2: Locate the Dial Actions

With your Stream Deck + connected, you will see a dedicated “Dials” section in the software. 1. In the right-hand panel of the Stream Deck application, scroll down to the OBS Studio category. 2. Look for the action labeled Filter (or Source Filter) under the Dials section.

Step 3: Drag and Drop the Dial Action

  1. Drag the Filter dial action from the right panel and drop it onto one of the circular dial slots in the center of your Stream Deck canvas.

Step 4: Configure the Filter Properties

Once the action is placed on a dial, a properties window will appear at the bottom of the Stream Deck application. Fill out the following fields to target your specific filter: 1. Scene: Select the OBS scene where your target source is located. 2. Source: Choose the specific source (such as your microphone, webcam, or capture card) that has the filter applied to it. 3. Filter: Select the specific filter you want to adjust (e.g., Gain, Limiter, or Color Correction). 4. Property: Select the exact parameter you want the dial to turn up or down (e.g., Db for Gain, or Contrast for Color Correction).

Step 5: Adjust Dial Sensitivity and Press Actions

To make the physical dial behave exactly how you want, fine-tune the final settings: 1. Step Size: Set the increment value. A smaller step size allows for precise adjustments, while a larger step size allows you to sweep through values quickly. 2. Dial Press: Configure what happens when you press the dial in. You can set this to Reset the filter property back to its default value, or Mute/Toggle the filter on and off.
