Map Rodecaster Pro II to Individual OBS Studio Tracks
Routing individual audio channels from your Rodecaster Pro II to separate tracks in OBS Studio allows you to control your microphone, game audio, voice chat, and sound pads independently during a live stream or recording. This guide will walk you through enabling the Rodecaster’s USB outputs, adding them as separate sources in OBS, and mapping them to dedicated audio tracks for maximum control.
Step 1: Configure Your Rodecaster Pro II USB Outputs
The Rodecaster Pro II features a dual USB interface that creates three separate virtual audio devices on your computer: Rodecaster Pro II Main, Rodecaster Pro II Chat, and Rodecaster Pro II Secondary.
- Connect the Rodecaster Pro II to your computer using the USB 1 port.
- On the Rodecaster touchscreen, go to Settings > Outputs > Multitrack > USB.
- Select Pre-Fader if you want OBS to receive the raw audio before you move the physical faders, or Post-Fader if you want your physical fader levels and voice processing (like EQ and compression) to carry over to OBS.
Step 2: Add the Audio Sources in OBS Studio
Instead of using the default “Desktop Audio” and “Mic/Aux” settings, you need to add each Rodecaster USB device as an individual source.
- Open OBS Studio.
- In the Sources dock, click the + (Add) icon and select Audio Input Capture (for microphones) or Audio Output Capture (for system sound/chat).
- Create a new source and name it clearly (e.g., “Rodecaster Main”).
- In the device dropdown menu, select Rodecaster Pro II Main.
- Repeat this process to add Rodecaster Pro II Chat and Rodecaster Pro II Secondary as separate sources in your OBS scene.
Step 3: Map the Sources to Individual OBS Tracks
Now you must assign each added source to its own dedicated audio track. This ensures they are recorded onto separate channels in your video file.
- Right-click anywhere inside the OBS Audio Mixer dock and select Advanced Audio Properties.
- Locate the table on the right side under the Tracks column, which features numbered checkboxes (1 through 6) for each audio source.
- Map your tracks by checking only one box per source. For example:
- Track 1 (Stream Mix): Check box 1 for all sources (Main, Chat, and Secondary) so your live stream audience can hear everything combined.
- Track 2 (Microphone): Check box 2 only for Rodecaster Pro II Main.
- Track 3 (Voice Chat): Check box 3 only for Rodecaster Pro II Chat.
- Track 4 (Game/Music): Check box 4 only for Rodecaster Pro II Secondary.
Step 4: Configure OBS Recording Output
To ensure OBS actually records these separate tracks to your video file, you must enable them in your output settings.
- In OBS, go to Settings > Output.
- Set the Output Mode dropdown at the top to Advanced.
- Click the Recording tab.
- Under Audio Track, check the boxes for all the tracks you mapped in the previous step (e.g., Tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4).
- Click Apply and then OK.
When you import your recorded video file into a video editor (like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut), you will now see separate, editable audio tracks for each of your Rodecaster Pro II sources.
