Map Elgato Stream Deck Pedal to OBS Studio Scenes
Controlling your stream hands-free is a game-changer for content creators, musicians, and gamers alike. This article provides a direct, step-by-step guide on how to map your physical Elgato Stream Deck Pedal to switch scenes in OBS Studio, allowing you to transition between different camera angles or layouts seamlessly while keeping your hands completely free.
Step 1: Prepare Your Software
Before starting, ensure you have both OBS Studio and the Elgato Stream Deck application installed and updated to their latest versions. Keep both programs open during this setup process so they can communicate with each other.
Step 2: Select the Pedal Device
Open the Elgato Stream Deck application on your computer. In the top-left corner of the window, click the device dropdown menu and select your Stream Deck Pedal from the list. The interface will update to display the three physical pedals.
Step 3: Locate the OBS Studio Actions
On the right side of the Stream Deck window, you will see the actions list. Scroll down until you find the OBS Studio category. If you do not see it, click the store icon (the keyboard logo) at the top of the actions column, search for “OBS Studio,” and install the official plugin.
Step 4: Map the Scene Action to a Pedal
- In the OBS Studio actions list, locate the Scene action.
- Click and drag the Scene action onto the virtual representation of the physical pedal you want to use (Left, Middle, or Right).
Step 5: Configure the Target Scene
Once the action is placed on a pedal, look at the properties panel at the bottom of the Stream Deck window: 1. Collection: Select the specific Scene Collection you are using in OBS Studio. 2. Scene: Choose the exact scene you want this pedal to switch to when pressed.
Step 6: Test and Repeat
Press the physical pedal with your foot. You should see OBS Studio immediately switch to the designated scene. To map additional scenes, repeat the process by dragging the Scene action to the remaining pedal slots and assigning them to different scenes in OBS Studio.
