Map Elgato Stream Deck Pedal to OBS Scene Switching

This guide provides a straightforward tutorial on how to configure your Elgato Stream Deck Pedal to seamlessly switch scenes in OBS Studio. By leveraging the Stream Deck desktop application and the native OBS Studio integration, you can achieve hands-free scene transitions to elevate your live streams or video recordings.

Step 1: Connect and Select Your Device

  1. Plug your Elgato Stream Deck Pedal into an open USB port on your computer.
  2. Open the Stream Deck software on your desktop.
  3. In the top-left corner of the Stream Deck window, click the device dropdown menu and select your Stream Deck Pedal.

Step 2: Install the OBS Studio Plugin (If Needed)

The OBS Studio integration is usually pre-installed. If you do not see it in your actions list on the right side of the screen, follow these steps: 1. Click the Store icon (the colorful keyboard/plus icon) in the top menu bar of the Stream Deck software. 2. Search for “OBS Studio” by Elgato. 3. Click Install to add the plugin to your actions library.

Step 3: Assign the Scene Action to a Pedal

  1. In the right-hand panel of the Stream Deck software, scroll down to locate the OBS Studio category.
  2. Find the action labeled Scene.
  3. Drag and drop the Scene action onto one of the three physical pedal slots displayed on the screen (Left, Middle, or Right).

Step 4: Configure the Scene Settings

  1. Click on the pedal slot you just mapped to open its property inspector at the bottom of the window.
  2. Ensure OBS Studio is currently open on your computer so the Stream Deck software can sync with it.
  3. In the Scene Collection dropdown inside the property inspector, select your active OBS scene collection.
  4. In the Scene dropdown, choose the specific scene you want this pedal to activate (for example, “Gameplay” or “Be Right Back”).

Step 5: Test the Configuration

  1. Open OBS Studio and position it so you can see your canvas.
  2. Press the physical pedal with your foot.
  3. OBS Studio should instantly transition to the configured scene. Repeat this process for the remaining pedal slots to map additional scenes.
