Link Patreon Alerts to OBS Browser Source
Integrating Patreon alerts into your livestream is an excellent way to thank your patrons in real-time and encourage more community support. This guide provides a direct, step-by-step walkthrough on how to link your Patreon alerts to OBS Studio using a browser source by utilizing integration platforms like Streamlabs or StreamElements.
Step 1: Connect Patreon to Your Alert Platform
Because Patreon does not generate direct OBS browser source links natively, you must use a bridging service. 1. Log into your preferred alert platform (such as Streamlabs or StreamElements). 2. Navigate to the account settings or integrations page. 3. Locate Patreon in the list of integrations and click Connect. 4. Log into your Patreon account when prompted and authorize the alert platform to access your Patreon creator data.
Step 2: Configure Your Patreon Alerts
Once connected, you need to customize how your alerts will look and sound when a viewer pledges. 1. Go to the Alert Box settings dashboard on your alert platform. 2. Select the Patreon tab (this may be listed under “Pledges” or “Patrons”). 3. Customize the alert settings, including the alert message, layout, GIF/image, sound effect, and animation duration. 4. Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Copy the Widget URL
To display these alerts in OBS, you need the unique link generated by your alert platform. 1. Scroll to the top of the Alert Box settings page. 2. Locate the Widget URL field. 3. Click the Copy button to copy the link to your clipboard. Keep this URL private, as it is unique to your stream.
Step 4: Add the Browser Source to OBS Studio
Now, you will input the copied link into OBS Studio to display the
alerts on your stream. 1. Open OBS Studio. 2. Go to the
Sources dock, click the + icon, and
select Browser. 3. Name the source (e.g., “Patreon
Alerts”) and click OK. 4. In the properties window,
paste the copied Widget URL into the URL field. 5. Set
the Width to 800 and
Height to 600 (or your platform’s
recommended dimensions). 6. Click OK.
Step 5: Test the Integration
Make sure the alert displays correctly before going live. 1. Keep OBS Studio open so you can view your stream preview. 2. Go back to your alert platform dashboard. 3. Click the Test Patreon Pledge (or “Test Alert”) button. 4. The alert should now play and display on top of your stream layout in OBS. Use your mouse to resize and reposition the browser source box as desired.
