How to Use OBS Studio Multiview Projector

OBS Studio’s Multiview feature is a powerful tool that allows broadcasters to monitor multiple scenes simultaneously on a single screen. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough on how to configure and launch the Multiview projector to monitor up to eight scenes at once, enabling seamless transitions and professional-grade live production management.

Step 1: Configure Your Scenes

Before setting up the Multiview projector, ensure you have created the scenes you want to monitor. 1. Open OBS Studio. 2. In the Scenes dock, create up to eight distinct scenes (e.g., Main Camera, Gameplay, Intermission, Be Right Back).

Step 2: Adjust Multiview Settings

To ensure the Multiview layout displays exactly eight scenes, you need to adjust the global settings. 1. Click on Settings in the bottom-right Controls dock (or go to File > Settings). 2. Select the General tab from the left-hand menu. 3. Scroll down to the Multiview section. 4. Set the Multiview Layout to 8 Scenes (Horizontal) or 8 Scenes (Vertical) depending on your monitor orientation. 5. Ensure “Draw scene names” is checked so you can easily identify each scene. 6. Click Apply and then OK.

Step 3: Launch the Multiview Projector

You can display the Multiview layout either as a windowed application or as a fullscreen display on a dedicated monitor.

  1. Go to the top menu bar and click View.
  2. Hover over Multiview (Fullscreen).
  3. Select the monitor on which you want the Multiview to appear.

Option B: Windowed Multiview (Best for Single Monitors)

  1. Go to the top menu bar and click View.
  2. Click Multiview (Windowed).
  3. Resize and position the pop-up window anywhere on your screen.

Step 4: Monitor and Control Your Broadcast

With the Multiview projector active, you can now monitor your live production: * Preview and Program: The two large screens at the top show your current “Preview” (what is cued up next) and “Program” (what your viewers currently see). * Eight Scene Grids: The eight smaller windows below display live previews of your configured scenes. * Hot-Switching: Left-clicking any of the eight small scene windows will instantly transition that scene to the Program window (or Preview window, depending on whether you are using Studio Mode).
