How to Use Multiple Twitch Accounts in OBS Studio

Managing multiple Twitch accounts in OBS Studio is essential for creators who run personal, brand, or collaborative channels. This article provides a straightforward guide on how to seamlessly swap between different Twitch accounts using OBS Studio’s built-in Profile system, ensuring you can switch your stream keys, chat docks, and integration settings in just a few clicks without losing your configurations.

The Best Method: Using OBS Profiles

The most efficient and clean way to manage multiple Twitch accounts in OBS Studio is by using Profiles. Profiles save all of your settings, stream keys, and connected accounts, while leaving your visual assets (scenes and sources) untouched.

Here is how to set up and swap between multiple Twitch accounts using Profiles:

Step 1: Create a Profile for Your First Account

  1. Open OBS Studio.
  2. Click on Profile in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Rename to label your current profile (e.g., “Twitch - Main Account”).
  4. Go to Settings > Stream, ensure your service is set to Twitch, and connect your first account.

Step 2: Create a Profile for Your Second Account

  1. Click on Profile in the top menu bar.
  2. Select New to create a blank profile, or select Duplicate if you want to copy your current output, video, and audio settings to save time.
  3. Name this new profile after your second account (e.g., “Twitch - Alt Account”).
  4. Go to Settings > Stream.
  5. Click Disconnect Account (if you duplicated the profile) and then click Connect Account to log in with your second Twitch account credentials.
  6. Click Apply and OK.

Step 3: Swapping Between Accounts

Whenever you want to switch accounts, simply click on Profile in the top menu and select the profile associated with the account you want to stream to.

OBS Studio will instantly update: * Your stream key and destination server. * Your Twitch-integrated docks (such as Chat, Stream Information, and Activity Feed). * Your stream output settings (bitrate, resolution, etc., if they differ between accounts).

Keeping Your Overlays Consistent (Scene Collections)

It is important to understand the difference between Profiles and Scene Collections in OBS: * Profiles control where you stream (accounts, stream keys, settings, hotkeys). * Scene Collections control what you stream (overlays, cameras, game captures, alerts).

If you want to use the exact same overlays for both Twitch accounts, you do not need to change anything in your Scene Collections. When you switch Profiles, your current scenes will remain active on your screen, but they will stream to the newly selected Twitch account. If you want unique overlays for each account, you can create separate Scene Collections by going to Scene Collection > New and switching them manually alongside your profiles.
