How to Resize Image to Fit Screen in OBS

When importing large images into OBS Studio, they often exceed the canvas boundaries and get cut off. This guide provides a quick, step-by-step walkthrough on how to use the “Fit to screen” keyboard shortcut to instantly resize any oversized image source to perfectly fit your preview window.

The “Fit to Screen” Keyboard Shortcut

To instantly resize an oversized image (or any other source) to fit your OBS canvas:

  1. Select the Image Source: Click on the oversized image inside the Sources dock, or click directly on the image boundary in the preview window.
  2. Press the Shortcut:
    • Windows & Linux: Press Ctrl + F
    • Mac: Press Cmd + F

Once pressed, OBS will instantly scale the image down (or up) so that the entire image fits within the visible canvas while maintaining its original aspect ratio.

Alternative Shortcut: Stretch to Screen

If you want the image to fill the entire canvas, even if it distorts the original aspect ratio: * Windows & Linux: Press Ctrl + S * Mac: Press Cmd + S

Manual Method (Via Menu)

If you prefer using your mouse instead of a keyboard shortcut: 1. Right-click the image source in the Sources list or preview window. 2. Hover over Transform. 3. Click Fit to screen.
