How to Randomize Images in OBS Image Slide Show
This guide provides a straightforward, step-by-step tutorial on how to set up and randomize images using the “Image Slide Show” source in OBS Studio. You will learn how to add the source, import your graphic files, and configure the playback settings so that your images display in a completely shuffled, random order during your live streams or recordings.
Step 1: Add the Image Slide Show Source
- Open OBS Studio on your computer.
- Navigate to the Sources dock at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the + (Add) icon at the bottom of the Sources dock.
- Select Image Slide Show from the pop-up menu.
- Give the source a recognizable name (e.g., “Random Backgrounds”) and click OK.
Step 2: Import Your Images
- In the properties window that opens, scroll down to the Image Files box at the bottom.
- Click the + button on the right side of the box.
- Choose Add Files to select specific images from your computer, or Add Directory to import an entire folder of images.
- Select the files or folder you want to use and click Open.
Step 3: Enable the Randomize Setting
- In the same properties window, scroll through the settings list to locate the checkbox labeled Randomize playback.
- Check the box next to Randomize playback. This setting overrides the alphabetical or numerical order of your files and shuffles them automatically.
Step 4: Configure Playback and Transitions
To ensure your slide show behaves exactly how you want, adjust these key settings before closing the properties window: * Visibility Behavior: Set this to Always play even when not visible if you want the loop to continue in the background, or Stop when not visible, restart when visible to reset the cycle when switching scenes. * Slide Mode: Choose Always play for continuous automatic rotation, or Hotkeys to control if you prefer to change the random images manually. * Transition: Select your preferred visual transition (e.g., Fade, Cut, or Swipe). * Time Between Slides (milliseconds): Adjust how long each image stays on screen. For example, 10000 ms equals 10 seconds. * Transition Speed (milliseconds): Adjust how fast the transition effect occurs.
Once you have configured these settings, click OK to save your changes. Your OBS Image Slide Show will now display your selected images in a randomized loop.
