How to Loop an Image Slideshow in OBS Studio

Creating a continuous loop of images in OBS Studio is a straightforward process that utilizes the built-in Image Slide Show source. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough on how to add this source, import your images, and configure the settings to ensure your slideshow transitions seamlessly and repeats indefinitely during your live stream or recording.

Step 1: Add the Image Slide Show Source

  1. Open OBS Studio and navigate to the Sources dock at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click the + (Add) icon at the bottom of the dock.
  3. Select Image Slide Show from the pop-up menu.
  4. Give your source a recognizable name (e.g., “Looping Slideshow”) and click OK.

Step 2: Configure the Loop Settings

In the properties window that appears, adjust the following settings to ensure the slideshow loops continuously: * Visibility Behavior: Set this to Always play even when not visible if you want the slideshow to run constantly in the background, or Stop when not visible, restart when visible if you only want it to play when the scene is active. * Slide Mode: Select Automatic so the images transition without manual input. * Transition: Choose your preferred transition style (such as Fade, Cut, or Swipe). * Time Between Slides (milliseconds): Enter how long you want each image to display. For example, 3000 ms equals 3 seconds. * Transition Speed (milliseconds): Enter how fast you want the transition effect to occur. * Loop: Ensure the checkbox next to Loop is checked. This is the crucial setting that makes the slideshow repeat indefinitely.

Step 3: Add Your Images

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the properties window to find the Image files box.
  2. Click the + button on the right side of the box.
  3. Choose Add files to select specific images, or Add directory to upload an entire folder of images.
  4. Browse your computer, select your images, and click Open.
  5. Use the up and down arrow buttons next to the image list to reorder your slides if necessary.
