How to Connect OBS Studio to Restream
Broadcasting your live stream to multiple platforms simultaneously is one of the best ways to grow your audience, and combining OBS Studio with Restream makes this process incredibly simple. This step-by-step guide will show you how to connect OBS Studio to Restream using both the recommended direct account integration and the manual stream key method, allowing you to stream to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and more at the same time.
Method 1: Connect via Account Integration (Recommended)
This is the easiest and most feature-rich method, as it automatically integrates Restream’s chat and channel control docks directly into your OBS Studio interface.
- Open OBS Studio on your computer.
- Click on Settings in the bottom-right corner (or go to File > Settings).
- Select the Stream tab from the left-hand menu.
- Click the Service dropdown menu and select Restream.io - RTMP.
- Click the Connect Account (recommended) button.
- A browser window will appear. Enter your Restream login credentials and click Allow to authorize OBS Studio to access your Restream account.
- Once connected, click Apply and then OK in OBS.
Your Restream Chat and Multistream Control docks will now automatically appear inside OBS Studio.
Method 2: Connect via Stream Key
If you prefer not to link your accounts directly, you can connect OBS Studio to Restream manually using your unique stream key.
- Log in to your Restream Dashboard via your web browser.
- Locate and copy your Stream Key from the right side of the dashboard.
- Open OBS Studio and navigate to Settings > Stream.
- Set the Service dropdown to Restream.io - RTMP.
- Set the Server dropdown to Autodetect (Recommended).
- Click Use Stream Key (advanced).
- Paste your Restream stream key into the Stream Key field.
- Click Apply and then OK.
How to Start Your Multi-Platform Stream
Once you have connected OBS to Restream using either of the methods above, you are ready to go live.
- In your Restream Dashboard (or the Restream dock inside OBS), ensure all the target platforms (YouTube, Twitch, etc.) you want to stream to are toggled ON.
- Set up your scenes, sources, and audio in OBS Studio as you normally would.
- Click the Start Streaming button in the bottom-right corner of OBS Studio.
OBS Studio will send your single stream to Restream’s servers, which will instantly duplicate and distribute the broadcast to all of your activated social media and streaming platforms simultaneously.
