How to Clear Cache in OBS Studio Browser Sources

If your browser sources in OBS Studio are showing outdated overlays, failing to load, or experiencing visual glitches, clearing the application’s cache is the most effective solution. This guide provides direct, step-by-step instructions on how to refresh individual browser sources within OBS Studio, as well as how to perform a complete cache clear on both Windows and macOS systems to restore your stream elements to working order.

Method 1: Refresh a Single Browser Source (Fastest)

If only one browser source is acting up, you can clear its cache directly inside OBS Studio without deleting global files.

  1. Open OBS Studio.
  2. Double-click the problematic browser source in the Sources dock to open its properties.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the properties window.
  4. Click the Refresh cache of current page button.
  5. Click OK.

Method 2: Clear Global Browser Cache on Windows

If the quick refresh does not work, or if multiple sources are broken, you should clear the global OBS cache folders.

  1. Close OBS Studio completely.
  2. Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  3. Type %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser and press Enter.
  4. In the folder that opens, locate the folders named Cache and GPUCache.
  5. Select both folders and delete them.
  6. Restart OBS Studio. The software will automatically recreate these folders with fresh, uncorrupted files.

Method 3: Clear Global Browser Cache on macOS

Mac users can clear the global browser source cache by accessing the Application Support directory.

  1. Close OBS Studio.
  2. Open Finder.
  3. Press Command + Shift + G to open the “Go to Folder” search bar.
  4. Paste the following path: ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugin_config/obs-browser and press Enter.
  5. Locate the Cache folder and move it to the Trash.
  6. Empty your Trash and relaunch OBS Studio.
