How to Change Default Transition Duration in OBS
This guide provides a quick, step-by-step walkthrough on how to globally adjust the default transition duration between scenes in OBS Studio. By modifying this setting, you can control how fast or slow your scenes blend into one another, ensuring a consistent and professional look for your live streams or video recordings.
To change the global transition duration in OBS Studio, follow these steps:
Step 1: Locate the Scene Transitions Dock
By default, the Scene Transitions panel is located at the bottom of the OBS Studio interface, typically next to the Sources or Audio Mixer docks.
If you cannot find it, click on Docks in the top menu bar of OBS, and ensure that Scene Transitions is checked.
Step 2: Select Your Transition Type
In the Scene Transitions dock, click the dropdown menu to select the transition type you want to adjust (such as Fade, Swipe, or Slide).
Note: The Cut transition is instantaneous and does not have a duration setting.
Step 3: Adjust the Duration
Next to the transition dropdown menu, you will see a Duration field box, which is measured in milliseconds (ms).
- Click inside the Duration box.
- Enter your desired numerical value. For example, enter
300for a quick 0.3-second transition, or1000for a slower, 1-second transition. - Press Enter on your keyboard to apply the changes.
Once set, this new duration will act as the global default for all scene changes using that transition type.
