To automate legato, the modifier extends the duration of incoming notes:
- Overlap and Latch Modes: The modifier delays sending the Note-Off message until the precise moment the next note begins, or slightly after, creating a micro-overlap.
- Extended Gate Length: Setting the gate parameter above 100% causes notes to bleed slightly into subsequent notes.
When fed into a monophonic synthesizer or an advanced orchestral sample library, this automated overlap tells the instrument engine to trigger glide, portamento, or dedicated legato transition samples rather than re-attacking each note from scratch.
