Repeat Rows and Columns on Every Page in LibreOffice Calc
When printing large spreadsheets spanning multiple pages in LibreOffice Calc, data can quickly become difficult to read without context. This guide explains how to set specific rows at the top and columns on the left to repeat automatically on every printed page, ensuring your headers and labels remain visible throughout your entire printed document or exported PDF.
How to Set Rows and Columns to Repeat
Open the Print Ranges Menu With your spreadsheet open in LibreOffice Calc, navigate to the top menu bar, click on Format, hover over Print Ranges, and select Edit….
Specify Rows to Repeat In the Edit Print Ranges dialog window, locate the Rows to Repeat field:
- To repeat the first row, type
$1or select- user defined -from the dropdown and enter$1. - To repeat multiple top rows (for example, rows 1 through 3), enter
$1:$3. - Alternatively, click the Shrink button (the icon next to the input field) and click or drag directly on the spreadsheet row numbers to select them.

Specify Columns to Repeat Locate the Columns to Repeat field in the same window:
- To repeat the leftmost column, enter
$A. - To repeat multiple columns (for example, columns A and B), enter
$A:$B. - You can also use the Shrink button to highlight the desired columns directly in your sheet.
- To repeat the leftmost column, enter
Apply the Changes Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box to save your settings.
How to Verify Your Settings
To ensure the repeated rows and columns are configured correctly before sending the document to the printer:
- Go to File in the top menu and select Print Preview (or press Ctrl + Shift + O).
- Navigate through the pages using the page navigation arrows on the toolbar.
- Confirm that your specified header rows appear at the top of every page and your chosen columns appear on the left of every horizontal page split.
