Where is the Kdenlive Effect and Composition Stack?
This article provides a quick guide on how to locate and open the Effect and Composition Stack in the Kdenlive video editor. You will learn its default position in the interface, how to restore it if it is hidden, and how its location changes based on your active workspace.
Default Location of the Stack
In the default Kdenlive layout, the Effect and Composition Stack is typically located in the middle-left panel of the user interface. It is usually grouped as a tab alongside the Project Bin, Effect Library, and Clip Monitor.
To see your applied effects in this stack, you must select a clip or a transition in your timeline. Once a clip with an active effect is highlighted, its parameters and keyframes will appear inside this panel for customization.
How to Restore the Stack if Missing
If you accidentally closed the panel or cannot find it on your screen, you can easily restore it using the main menu:
- Click on View in the top menu bar.
- Scroll down the dropdown menu and locate Effect/Composition Stack.
- Click it to ensure there is a checkmark next to it.
- The panel will reappear. You can click and drag the tab to dock it to any other area of the interface that suits your workflow.
Location in Different Workspaces
Kdenlive features specialized window layouts called Workspaces. Depending on the workspace you are currently using, the stack may move to optimize your screen real estate:
- Editing Workspace: Located in the middle-left panel.
- Effects Workspace: Usually positioned on the right side of the screen to provide a larger, dedicated space for adjusting complex effect parameters and keyframes.
You can switch between these layouts by navigating to View > Workspaces or by selecting the workspace tabs located in the top-right corner of the Kdenlive window.
