Snap Playhead to Clip Start or End in Kdenlive

Navigating the timeline efficiently is crucial for precise video editing. This article provides a quick, step-by-step guide on how to snap the playhead to the exact beginning or end of a specific clip in Kdenlive using keyboard shortcuts and the built-in timeline snapping tools.

Method 1: Use Keyboard Shortcuts (Fastest)

Kdenlive features built-in keyboard shortcuts designed to jump the playhead directly to clip boundaries (cuts) on the timeline.

1. Click on the timeline to make it active.
2. Press Alt + Right Arrow to jump the playhead to the next cut, which represents the exact end of your current clip (or the start of the next one).
3. Press Alt + Left Arrow to jump the playhead to the previous cut, which represents the exact beginning of your current clip.

Note: If you have a specific track targeted, the playhead will prioritize the cuts on that active track.

Method 2: Enable Timeline Snapping (Mouse Dragging)

If you prefer using the mouse, Kdenlive has a magnetic snapping feature that forces the playhead to lock onto clip edges when dragged close to them.
