How to Style and Format Subtitles in Kdenlive

This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on how to customize, style, and format subtitles directly within the Kdenlive video editor. You will learn how to enable the subtitle track, edit text, and use the subtitle styling options to adjust fonts, sizes, colors, and backgrounds to match your video’s aesthetic.

Step 1: Enable the Subtitle Track

Before you can style subtitles, you must add them to your timeline. 1. Open your project in Kdenlive. 2. Click on the Subtitle icon in the timeline toolbar (located just above the timeline tracks), or go to the top menu and select Project > Subtitles > Add Subtitle. 3. A dedicated subtitle track will appear at the very top of your timeline.

Step 2: Add and Edit Subtitle Text

1. Double-click on the subtitle track at the specific timestamp where you want the subtitle to appear.
