How to Reset Kdenlive to Default Settings
If Kdenlive is crashing, experiencing performance issues, or if you have accidentally scrambled the user interface, resetting the video editor to its factory defaults is the most effective troubleshooting step. This guide provides quick, step-by-step instructions to reset both the interface layout and the entire application configuration on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Method 1: Reset the Window Layout (Inside Kdenlive)
If Kdenlive opens successfully but your timeline, project bin, or effects panels have disappeared, you can easily restore the default workspace layout without losing your settings.
- Open Kdenlive.
- Click on the View menu at the top of the screen.
- Select Reset Layout from the dropdown menu.
Your workspace panels will instantly snap back to their default positions.
Method 2: Full Factory Reset (Deleting Configuration Files)
