How to Loop a Clip in Kdenlive Project Bin

When editing video in Kdenlive, you may want a specific background video, audio track, or animation to repeat seamlessly without manually duplicating it dozens of times on your timeline. This article provides a quick, step-by-step guide on how to force any clip to loop continuously by adjusting its settings directly within the Kdenlive Project Bin properties.

Step 1: Locate your clip in the Project Bin

Open your project in Kdenlive and find the video, audio, or image clip you want to loop in the Project Bin panel (typically located in the upper-left corner of the interface).

Step 2: Open the Clip Properties

Right-click on the desired clip within the Project Bin and select Clip Properties from the context menu. Alternatively, you can select the clip and press the Clip Properties tab if your workspace is configured to show it.

Step 3: Enable the Loop setting

  1. In the Clip Properties window or tab, look at the options available for the clip.
  2. Depending on your version of Kdenlive, navigate to the Advanced or Properties tab.
  3. Locate the Loop checkbox.
  4. Check the box to enable looping. (In some versions, you may also specify the number of loops or simply enable infinite looping).
