How to Configure Auto-Save in Kdenlive
This guide provides a straightforward, step-by-step walkthrough on how to configure the auto-save interval settings in Kdenlive. By adjusting these settings, you can ensure your video editing progress is automatically backed up at regular intervals, minimizing the risk of data loss during unexpected software crashes or system power outages.
To configure the auto-save interval in Kdenlive, follow these steps:
Open the Configuration Menu
Launch Kdenlive. On Windows or Linux, click on Settings in the top menu bar and select Configure Kdenlive… from the dropdown menu. If you are using macOS, click on Kdenlive in the menu bar and select Preferences….Navigate to the Environment Settings
In the configuration window that appears, look at the sidebar on the left side. Click on the Environment icon to open the environment settings.Locate and Adjust the Auto-Save Settings
Within the Environment tab, look for the Auto Save section.- Ensure that the checkbox for Enable Auto Save (or Auto save depending on your version) is checked.
- Locate the interval input field, which defines how often Kdenlive saves your project.
- Change the interval value to your preferred duration. The interval is measured in minutes. For optimal crash protection without interrupting system performance, an interval of 3 to 5 minutes is highly recommended.
Save Your Changes
Once you have set your desired auto-save interval, click the Apply button in the bottom right corner of the window, and then click OK to close the settings menu.
Once these steps are completed, Kdenlive will silently back up your project timeline in the background according to the timeline frequency you defined, ensuring your hard work is safe.
