Create Overlapping Text Layers in Kdenlive

Creating depth and unique visual styles in your videos often requires overlapping text layers. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough on how to create and arrange multiple overlapping text layers within a single title clip in Kdenlive. Step 1: Create a New Title Clip

  1. Open Kdenlive and locate the Project Bin.
  2. Right-click an empty space in the Project Bin and select Add Title Clip (or use the shortcut Ctrl + T). This opens the Kdenlive Title Clip editor window.

Step 2: Add Your First Text Layer

  1. Click the Add Text icon (represented by a “T” letter) in the toolbar at the top of the title editor window.
  2. Click anywhere on the black canvas preview area.
  3. Type your first word or letter.
  4. Use the properties panel on the right to adjust the font, size, color, and weight. This layer will serve as either your background or foreground text.
