Change Voice Pitch in Kdenlive with Pitch Scaler

This article provides a quick, step-by-step guide on how to use the “Pitch Scaler” filter in Kdenlive to adjust the pitch of an audio track. By using this specific effect, you can make a voice sound higher (like a chipmunk) or lower (like a deep giant) while keeping the video and audio playback speed completely normal.

Step 1: Add Your Clip to the Timeline

First, open Kdenlive and import your video or audio clip into the Project Bin. Drag and drop the clip onto your timeline. If your audio is embedded in a video clip, you can apply the effect directly to the video track, as Kdenlive will automatically target the audio portion.

Step 2: Locate the Pitch Scaler Effect

Navigate to the Effects tab (usually located in the bottom-left or top-left panel near the Project Bin). In the search bar of the Effects panel, type “Pitch Scaler”. You will find it categorized under the Audio Effects or Audio Correction section.
