Align Text to Center in Kdenlive Titler

This article provides a straightforward guide on how to perfectly center text objects both horizontally and vertically in Kdenlive. By utilizing the built-in alignment buttons within the Kdenlive Titler tool, you can quickly achieve professional, balanced titles for your video projects without manual dragging or estimation.

To align a text object to the absolute center of your video frame in Kdenlive, follow these steps:

1. Open the Title Clip Editor

Double-click an existing title clip in your Project Bin to open it, or create a new one by right-clicking in the Project Bin and selecting Add Title Clip.

2. Select Your Text Object

Inside the Titler window, click directly on the text object you want to center. A bounding box with selection handles will appear around the text, indicating it is active.

3. Locate the Alignment Tools

Look at the toolbar options inside the Titler window. There is a dedicated section for Align tools, which contains several icons representing different alignment directions.

4. Align Horizontally

Click the Align Center Horizontally button. This icon typically depicts a vertical line passing through the middle of a square. Clicking this instantly centers your text box between the left and right edges of the screen.

5. Align Vertically

Click the Align Center Vertically button. This icon depicts a horizontal line passing through the middle of a square. Clicking this instantly centers your text box between the top and bottom edges of the screen.

Once both buttons are pressed, your text object will be positioned exactly in the center of the frame. Click Create Clip (or Update Clip if editing an existing one) to save your changes.
