How to Reset Workspace Layout to Default
Misplaced panels, closed toolbars, and cluttered dockers can disrupt your creative flow while editing photos. This guide outlines the exact steps to restore the default workspace layout across the most common image editing programs, including Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity Photo, and Corel PaintShop Pro, allowing you to quickly recover missing tools and reset your screen to its original state.
Adobe Photoshop
- Click on the Window menu at the top of the screen.
- Hover your cursor over Workspace.
- Click Reset [Workspace Name] (for example, Reset Essentials if you are using the default setup).
Alternatively, you can click the Workspace Switcher icon in the upper-right corner of the application window and select the reset option from the dropdown menu.
GIMP
- Open the Edit menu (on macOS, click GIMP).
- Select Preferences.
- In the left sidebar of the Preferences window, expand Interface and click on Window Management.
- Click the button labeled Reset Saved Window Positions to Default Values.
- Click OK, then close and restart GIMP to apply the changes.
Affinity Photo
- Click on the Window menu from the top navigation bar (or View in older versions).
- Hover over Studio.
- Select Reset Studio. This will immediately reposition all studio panels to their factory default layout.
Corel PaintShop Pro
- Go to the File menu at the top left.
- Select Workspace.
- Click Load.
- Choose the default workspace layout from the available presets to overwrite your current modifications.
To force a full factory reset on PaintShop Pro, hold down the Shift key while launching the application from your desktop or start menu, then confirm that you want to restore factory defaults.
