How to Copy Modifiers to Multiple Objects in Blender

Copying modifiers to multiple objects in Blender saves significant time when setting up complex scenes or batch-editing 3D models. This guide outlines the two primary methods to quickly copy modifiers from an active object to a selection of target objects: using the standard Link/Transfer Data shortcut (Ctrl + L) and utilizing the Copy to Selected feature within the Modifier Properties panel.

Method 1: Using the Link/Transfer Data Menu (Fastest)

This method copies all modifiers from the active object to every other selected object in one step.

  1. Select the target objects in the 3D Viewport that need the modifiers applied.
  2. Select the source object last (the object that currently holds the modifier stack you want to copy). The source object must be the active object, indicated by a brighter orange highlight.
  3. Press Ctrl + L on your keyboard to open the Link/Transfer Data menu.
  4. Click Copy Modifiers.

All modifiers from the active source object will immediately replace or apply to all selected target objects.

Method 2: Using the Modifier Stack Dropdown (Individual Modifiers)

If you only want to copy a specific modifier rather than the entire modifier stack, use the modifier menu directly.

  1. Select all target objects.
  2. Select the source object last so it becomes the active object.
  3. Open the Modifier Properties tab (wrench icon) in the Properties panel on the right.
  4. Locate the specific modifier you wish to copy.
  5. Click the downward arrow icon next to the modifier's name (or press Ctrl + A over the modifier header).
  6. Select Copy to Selected.

The chosen modifier will be added to the modifier stack of all currently selected objects without overwriting their existing modifiers.
