How to Align Text to Center in Blender
Aligning text to the center in Blender is a simple process that is controlled through the Object Data Properties tab. By adjusting the horizontal and vertical alignment settings under the Paragraph section, you can quickly position your text relative to its origin point. This step-by-step guide covers how to center text horizontally and vertically, as well as how to snap the object's origin to the center of the text geometry.
Steps to Center Text in Blender
- Select Your Text Object: Click on the text in the 3D Viewport to make sure it is selected.
- Open Object Data Properties: In the Properties panel (usually on the lower-right side of the layout), click on the green 'a' icon representing Object Data Properties.
- Expand the Paragraph Section: Scroll down to locate and click on the Paragraph section to open its settings.
- Change Horizontal Alignment:
- Locate the Alignment sub-header.
- Click on the Horizontal dropdown menu (which defaults to Left).
- Select Center.
- Change Vertical Alignment:
- Click on the Vertical dropdown menu (which defaults to Base Line).
- Select Center.
Centering the Text Origin Point
Changing the alignment settings moves the text relative to its origin point (the small orange dot). To center the origin point directly in the middle of the text geometry itself:
- Select the text object in Object Mode.
- Right-click on the text in the 3D Viewport.
- Hover over Set Origin.
- Select Origin to Geometry (or Origin to Center of Mass).
Centering Text to the 3D World Center
If you want the centered text object positioned directly at the center of the 3D scene (coordinates 0, 0, 0):
- Ensure the text origin is centered using the steps above.
- Press
Alt + Gon your keyboard to clear the location transforms, snapping the text directly to the world origin.
