Hide All Face Sets Except Active in Blender
Face Sets in Blender's Sculpt Mode allow digital sculptors to group, visibility-toggle, and isolate specific regions of a 3D mesh. Isolating a single Face Set reduces viewport clutter and prevents accidental edits to surrounding geometry. This guide provides the exact keyboard shortcuts and menu steps required to instantly hide all inactive Face Sets and keep only your active region visible.
Method 1: The Hover Shortcut (Fastest)
- Switch your object to Sculpt Mode.
- Position your mouse cursor directly over the Face Set you want to keep visible.
- Press H on your keyboard.
Blender will automatically hide all other Face Sets, leaving only the hovered, active Face Set visible in the viewport.
To reveal all hidden Face Sets again, press Alt + H.
Method 2: The Face Sets Pie Menu
- Enter Sculpt Mode.
- Hover your cursor over the desired Face Set.
- Press W to bring up the Face Sets pie menu.
- Move your cursor to select Hide Inactive Face Sets.
Method 3: Top Header Menu
- Ensure your object is in Sculpt Mode.
- Click on the Face Sets menu located in the top bar of the 3D Viewport.
- Choose Hide Inactive Face Sets from the drop-down list.
Additional Face Set Visibility Controls
- Invert Visibility: Press Shift + H while hovering over a hidden or visible area to invert the current visibility state.
- Unhide All: Press Alt + H at any time to clear all visibility masks and show the entire mesh.
