Why uTP Is Ideal for Shared Home Internet Connections

The Micro Transport Protocol (μTP) is an open-source data transfer protocol designed to eliminate network slowdowns caused by peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing on shared networks. By actively monitoring network latency and yielding bandwidth to other applications in real time, μTP allows large background downloads to proceed without causing buffering, gaming lag, or dropped calls for other household members sharing the same internet connection.

Traditional downloading protocols, such as standard TCP, operate by consuming as much bandwidth as possible until packet loss occurs.
